ILLUCUTIONARY SPEECH ACTS ANALYSIS IN LISA KAMAL GRADUATION SPEECH AT UNIVERISTY OF WISCONSIN

Graduation at the University of Wisconsin refers to the event that celebrate students who have finished their degree requirements and are ready to receive their diplomas. Every year, the University of Wisconsin-Madison performs two graduation ceremonies, one in the spring and one in the winter. The winter commencement ceremony takes place in December, while the spring commencement event takes place in May. The event includes statements from university administrators, keynote speakers, and student speakers. During the event, graduates get their diplomas and are acknowledged for their academic achievements. With qualitative approaches, this study focuses on Lisa Kamal's graduation speech. There are various steps to analyze Lisa Kamal's illocutionary speaking performances. The information was obtained from YouTube and then converted into textual form. As a consequence, the researcher discovered that this speech had representational, expressive, and directive elements. While the words commissive and declarative are not included.
